The project objective is to revalorise by-products with a low MgO content, coming from MAGNA’s industrial activity, for use as fire-resistant or halogen-free flame retardant additives for plastic recycling, thereby reducing the environmental impact of these products.
The specific technical objectives to achieve are:
• Study the flame-resistant behavior of low MgO content of by-products
• Characterize various by-products, taking into account their potential flame retardant
• Modify the by-products in order to improve their flame retardant performance
• Choose mixtures with higher potential fire retardant to study its incorporation into the plastic matrix.
• Evaluate the behavior of the selected mixtures
• Achieve an energy absorption of 900J/g thanks to developed mixtures
• Get 50% fire losses
• Reduce the environmental impact of its processes through the revaluation of the by-products generated
