The project to install a new magnesium oxide manufacturing line in the Zubiri factory (Esteribar Valley) has been declared of “regional interest” by the Government of Navarre.
It is about 8 million of euros of investment aimed, mainly, at expanding and adapting the facilities with the aim of strengthening the company’s position in a volatile and competitive global market, and continue to grow, ensuring and propping up the industrial and mining development of MAGNA in the area. The main goal is to guarantee the viability and sustainable future of the company and its 215 direct jobs in Navarra.
The initiatives that have the consideration of “regional interest” have a preferential impulse in the different procedures that have to be carried out with all the public administrations of Navarra.
MAGNA is a company with nearly 75 years of history, closely linked to the rural areas in which it operates, being the engine of socioeconomic development. It represents the main economic activity of the Esteribar Valley and is an important generator of quality employment in countryside areas with few job opportunities, suffering from a growing depopulation. We participate as an economic and territorial agent in the establishment of population, vertebration of the territory and social cohesion of the valleys of Esteribar, Erro and Baztan.
These factors are some of those considered by the Government of Navarre in the declaration of this investment as of “regional interest”. In this sense, several items of the project have been taking into account for their contribution to several challenges of the Smart Specialization Strategy of Navarra S3. For example, the backbone of the food chain, the boost of the circular economy, increase of the average business size and regional economic development.
